Happy Birthday, Nino! and an early Happy Birthday to Wendy too on the 19th! I might not be around much this week again, so I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday while I had the chance. I figured you wouldn't mind getting lumped together with Nino. xP Have a great day!
The reason I might not be around is because my puppy is having surgery tomorrow morning. She's been having some mysterious bleeding even though she's spayed, and it turned out the guy that did the job last time did it craptastically and left some of her uterus intact. They're having to go back in the fix it. It's a quick surgery and she'll be home the same day, but I'm going to have to be watching over her at every second to make sure she doesn't lick or rip open her wound. Might not get on the internet much. (Of course, every time I say something like that, I get on the internet more than usual. *shot*)
The 24TV shirts! Despite not being designed by Captain, they're pretty cute, and the artist who did them is quite famous. I want the pink one! <3 <3 This line from the press conference cracked me up - "I was worried that the nipples would be cut out, so I'm relieved that they're not." xDD They know Arashi so well. But enough about the shirts, Nakama Yukie and Matsumoto Jun were in the same room together! Gokusen was mentioned zomggg! Please please please let them do a sequel. And please get back together in real life too, stop fooling around with those young gals, Jun! The mom in me is worried about you!
Don't forget! Tomorrow is also Firefox 3 Download Day! Yaaaaay. *nerd*
It's so much fun to wake up to frost sparkling all over the yards and roofs and then watch Leader take a bath in a trash can surrounded by fake snow. ♥ I really really loved the summer C100 commercial, but this one is great too. Can't wait for a clearer version of the song. Gah, I love winter. When is it going to snow here? ;;
I can't wait to see the Shou and Nino version of Hey Say Jump's commercial, either. I don't know, I haven't heard this song, but Hey Say 7's debut song made me vomit out my ears. Shou and Oono would have made more sense, though, as one of those kids has a huge crush on him. 8D But when does Johnny's ever make sense?
Not only that, there has been so many news announcements lately I cannot keep up. Yoko solo concert? Yey. I hate the idea of solo concerts (well, mainly Arashi having solo concerts) but I felt so sorry for Yoko being the only Eito member not to have had one.
Of course, Touma starring in the new Hachikuro drama news made me the happiest. EEEE TOUMA. I didn't like Shou as Takemoto, but I'm kind of sad to see the rest of the movie cast go. I think I was the only one that liked the movie cast, anyway. Wait, does this mean I'm going to see people creating wank over their hair colors and that their voices don't exactly match the seiyuu of the anime all over the Hachikuro comm on LJ? Actually, I'm the owner of the Hachikuro comm so I guess I could just ban everyone that annoys me. Ahaha. I'm sorry. ;_; I hope Nomiya and some others that weren't in the movie version appear in this.
As it is still the month in which everyone has birthdays -- I
hope Kouki and Nagase had good ones, and Happy Birthday in advance to
Tego and Takuya, in case I don't post before then. Much love for the
handy dandy Johnny's calendar. More importantly, Happy Birthday to mah
kuul doodz Trey (yesterday) and Xinny (today!) Anyone else I'm missing?
I'm pretty sure it's a lost cause now, but is anyone willing to bid on auctions for me? Of course, I'll give you commission. and flowers. and truffles. Whatever you want. ;;;; These two are ending in a couple of hours, and they're relatively "cheap" still. ;; Edit: No seriously. This one is still at about 25,000yen and has 20 minutes left. My pride won't allow something that cheap escape my clutches...! (Been taking lessons from Ikegami-shishou too.) lulz, one ended at 50,000 and the other is still going at over 100,000. Per ticket. I wanna die.
It seems Nagasawa-papa approves of Nino. Oh, but then, both JE and her company deny the whole thing. Now that's some mixed signals. xD I did read the transcription of Nino's apology on various blogs. Who remembers that scene in Mukodono where the press gets a hold of a picture of the two of them, and Yuuichirou apologizes to a crowd, saying it's not him and he doesn't know that girl. One of the reporters tell him "If you are lying, the girl will be very upset." After a pause, he replies "I'm telling the truth. I don't know this girl. I don't have a girlfriend." Meanwhile Sakura is in front of the TV crying. Yeah, that's what it reminded me of. I hate Johnny's and there stupid rules even more than usual today. ;_; Also, I hate those type of delusional fans that are actually happy about him having to apologize for having a private life. Which is why I stay on Vox where you guys are rational and awesome. (in my neighborhood, at least.) Of course, he added his own typically Nino flare to the situation and came out looking like a kuul dood, as always. <3
Coincidentally, I was just reading some excerpts from "Smap e" last night. (Still unable to find "Hikaru Genji e," the holy grail.) It's basically the same old stuff everyone knows already, just more graphic. No, I really didn't need to know the positions Johnny used with you when you were 15. The mental images. DD= Though I guess all the little details make his case more believable. Other than that, it looks like an interesting read and I would buy it if it wasn't out of print. Online, of course. I'm too much of a wimp to go into a bookstore and ask for it. 8D;; I can't read a novel without furigana anyway.
Okay, now for the good kind of sexual molestation! Shukudai-kun. ;_:_:-;-_:::-;-;;;- Episodes like these make the world a better place. Why won't the staff just swallow their pride and go back to the D/G formula? Obviously the fans and Arashi themselves have more fun that way. The chair experiment. *dies* I love how Matsujun was sitting oh-so-suggestively on Chesuto, yet he was hanging on to Oono for dear life instead. I guess he still thinks Shou has cooties? xP Udo-chan is Aiba-chan in 20 years. <33333 I still wish they could have done A no Arashi, even if it was just the pose. But U no Arashi is fine too. Both my stomach and cheeks were in severe pain by the end. It's hard to believe that this time last year, every episode was like this.
Just a heads up, on Monday, Hamamatsu tickets should be available through auction. That's tomorrow. I don't remember anyone I know that's trying for Hamamatsu besides me, but I just thought I'd mention it? If you are, don't be afraid to bid on an auction for two tickets. I'll buy one off of you. *desperate*
Apparently Masami is moving in with Nino. 8D~ How did this make a legitimate news source? Slow news day in Japan? Especially since it's not 'news' at all, just an update. According to my handy kanji dictionary, they are moving to a "high class residential area." He's probably just hiring her as a live-in maid (Tsukushi style?) and roommate to pay half the rent for him. I pity that poor girl. Ahahaha. Actually, I heard a rumor that they broke up last year, so I'm glad they're back together. (or that rumor was fake to begin with.) Yes, I am extremely bored waiting for tomorrow to arrive. ;;
edit: Occupying myself by looking and more entertainment news stories. So, if Nino's gonna go run off and enjoy marital life, I nominate Miss Air Guitar as the new fifth member of Arashi. She is everything I aspire to be. (not really.) Come to think of it, the Air Guitar World Championships are coming up. Tomorrow's Shukudai-kun looks like they sorta bring Uda Uda back, so maybe, just maybe, air guitar will return too?
edit2: I edit too much, per usual. Just realized tomorrow is also my first year anniversary on Vox. Come on, Vox, give me some anniversary luck and let me score a ticket. I don't have that "beta tester" sticker in my profile for nothing, do I? ;__;
Anyone who knows me knows I am an early bird. I wake up between 5~6am and go to bed by no later than 9pm. I was up until 2am last night and no matter how much I try to sleep in, I just can't do it. I feel like death. DD= Here's my fun story! A few days ago I met some very nice guy through ebay (a scalper, I'm thinking) that said he would help me bid on Yahoo Japan auctions. Yesterday I find a set of four tickets for 8/30 being sold separately, at a reasonable price, so I mail him about it. and wait. Finally, four hours before the auction ends he finally appears and bids on my behalf. This is about at 10pm and I'm already tired. He's outbid in a matter of seconds. He disappears again, but I just think he's waiting for the last minute. I wait. I wait. I email him a few times, saying it's okay to bid higher. It's 2am and there's 5 minutes left. Nothing. In the end, the tickets all sell for around 40,000yen (slightly below average?) and the guy never came back. This morning, I receive an email from him saying that he didn't bid because his friend, that has experience in auctions, said there's a risk of fake tickets and not to go over 25,000. So, uh, why didn't he tell me this at 10pm after he made his first bid, so I didn't have to stay up until 2am? Rather, I told him numerous times that I know the risks and to go up to 50,000 anyway and he just ignored my messages. I can tell I'm going to be cranky all day. D<
On to better news! Yamada Tarou! <3 I watched it yesterday morning and it was awesome. I wasn't really looking forward to it, but I think I like it just as much as Hanakimi. Much better than that crack Yamada Tarou dream I had. Another beautiful love story between classes is blooming~ What, Mimura follows Tarou around just like Doumyouji and Tsukushi (with the exception of kidnapping) and the next episode Tarou even becomes a maid. Of course, the opening is the best part. I will die if the music video is done in the same style. I've said it a million times and I'll say it again, air guitar never stops being funny. <3333333
I've been avoiding all talk and downloads of Time lately because I want to actually be excited when my CDs arrive. I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out, though. I feel so left out. *weeeeep*
Though it's already the 18th Japan time, I absolutely cannot let this day pass by. Happy 12th Birthday, Nino! <333 I'm sure next year, unless you go through some sort of dramatic reconstructive surgery, I'll be wishing you another Happy 12th.
In other news, I received a lovely surprised in the shower yesterday. Large clumps of hair were falling out due to stress. Twenty-seven days left! Arashi is making me bald. Gee thanks guys.
Congratulations again to all you kuul d00dz that have gotten tickets; it makes me feel slightly less nervous for myself. <333 Everything is booked now, so I guess it's Hamamatsu or Bust for me.
Anyway, right now I bring to you a sneak preview of episode one of Yamada Tarou Monogatari. I had a cracked dream accurate premonition of it last night. Keep in mind that I know absolutely nothing about the real storyline, because I haven't read the manga yet. I think my version is more interesting, however. The episode starts out with me talking with Nino and Shou at a really long table. (Yes, I was conscious of the fact that I was watching the first episode of Yamada Tarou on TV, but also a part of it at the same time.) They are both 26 and reminiscing about their high school years with me. Cue flashback! We are at some castle-like hotel. Nino and I have rooms next to each other, with Shou's on the other side of the corner a few yards away. In the night, both of us hear a huge crash and rush into Shou's room, where he's gone. Looking out the window, a huge helicopter is flying away, and judging by the mess in the room, it was a huge struggle. O noss, we must save Chesuto! So Nino goes off somewhere and I jump out of the window and fly to his rescue.
The helicopter seemed to have landed at a nearby air force base, so I fly in there to check it out. For an air force base, there was definitely not a lot of air security. Inside, I'm standing in a line for a ticket. (They give tours of the base, I guess? I just have tickets on the brain.) Then, a security guard grabs me and takes me away. I'm doomed, or so I thought. They bring me to this very large banquet hall filled with the same long tables from the beginning of the episode, only filled with people this time. I am served champaign and a piece of raw steak the size of my head. I want to be polite, because I have no idea what's going on and I'm scared for my life, so I eat a few pieces. Suddenly, an older woman standing on a podium chimes her glass and says, "Now, I'm pleased to announce, our guests of honor!" Shou and Nino burst through the doorway, clad in air force gear, to enormous applause. Apparently Nino saved Shou, joined the captors, and left me to rot with this gross steak that I was later charged $495 for. Curse you, Yamada Tarou! D< /end flashback. We never did find out why he was kidnapped in the first place.
...I can't believe I just typed that whole thing out. There was actually more, but I glossed over a few things. Now I can't wait for July to see how accurate my premonition was. *shot*
Sakai Izumi of ZARD died. Geh. I might seem heartless, but I think it's much better to just die the way she did (falling down stairs) instead of slowing suffering to death from the chemo she was having. Just a few days ago I was rewatching some of those 24TV clips of Matsujun singing while wiping his eyes with a hanky during Makenai de and laughing at him, but I'm sure I'll cry now whenever I hear that song, too. The same thing happened with Okazaki Ritsuko a few years ago, and I still can't listen to her music. ;;
Sudden change of subject! I bought Letters from Iwojima on DVD today. With all the AAA excitement it completely slipped my mind. The same as when I first saw it in theaters, I keep thinking to myself "This is a war movie, what can't I stop grinning?!" Just remembering that I bought this DVD with "Kazunari Ninomiya" written on the cover at the local Borders for $20 instead of from CDJapan for $80 and waiting a week for it to get here makes me eeeeee like nothing before. It's been a year and four months since he was in LA, but I still cannot get used to seeing Nino standing next to Clint Eastwood. Especially since he's the same ole Nino, not a pretentious Hollywood actor. The best part is his conversations with Kase on the extras disk. "Everyone was nice to me, except for Ninomiya." Not once have I ever thought of Nino as a good actor, nor singer, nor dancer, but he hands down wins the award for the most lovable sarcastic asshole. <3 and eeeeee Arashi is mentioned!
What is repeated a lot by Clint and the staff on the extras disk is the fact that World War II is not taught in Japanese classrooms, which is scary. Even though it's a shitty subject (wars, not history) I'm starting to feel lucky to have been able to have studied these things that I took for granted in the past. (We learned American perspective in 5th grade, European perspective 6th grade, Asian perspective 7th grade, I believe? and then we get more "mature" textbooks in high school and had to re-study the whole damn thing over again.) I hate war movies, but this one was well done and am glad it got a worldwide screening. Not just for Nino. Really. Maybe.
I haven't even gotten around to watching the movie disk yet and I'm already exhausted with typing my impressions. I doubt that they've changed much since I first wrote a review of it in February, anyway. Now the question is, when is Jun starring in his first Hollywood movie~~?
Shukudai-kun with An-chan today is one of the few must watches. Remember that G no Arashi episode with the wasabi experiment, where Matsujun couldn't even stand up for filming because he got so sick from the wasabi? This is ten times funnier. xD I have a craving for nachos and extra spicy salsa now.
Yesterday afternoon my Hachikuro DVD finally arrived. Gee thanks, HMV, you're only two and a half weeks late! I watched while eating Honey Nut Shredded Wheat cereal (my dinner) and the sun was going down and added an orange glare to the TV and everything was perfect. Including the movie. So it wasn't the excitement of seeing a movie in a Japanese theater for the first time after all. I've been a Hachikuro fan much longer than I've been into Arashi, and honestly, was not pleased when I heard that Johnny's got his dirty hands into one of my sacred manga. but it all turned out well in the end. Aozora Pedal didn't play until the credits were almost over (I love the song, but what was the point, really?) and, just like in the manga, Takemoto fades into the background as a narrator even during his 'climatic' scenes. Shou didn't do much harm to the story at all. Also like the manga, Morita reigns supreme and steals every scene. O Morita, you are my role model. I wanna be an 8th year college student too. <3
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's Letters from Iwo Jima. I watched it today in a horribly rich part of town in a theater full of old men with hearing aids and their fur coat wearing wives. I saw Louis Vuitton and Prada bags in real life for the first time. A true Tsukushi moment for me. 8DD Seriously, I was the only person in the theater under 50, and I could count the number of women there on one hand. Definitely no Arashi fans here. Yet tickets were sold out, and apparently had been every showing since it came. <333 Before the movie started, everyone was up and about sharing war stories with each other in loud voices (again, hearing aids.), and there was even one guy that was on Iwo Jima itself. An interesting audience to watch this kind of movie with. I heard one person saying "Hey, didn't that one die already?" and no one stuck around to watch the credits, so it didn't seem the characters left impressions on anyone, but I think just the fact that the movie made it here at all is a great achievement.
The movie itself? Watanabe Who? 8D~~~ Nino was the star of this. Whether he was snarking or crying, he had emotion on his face. Now that's the Nino from Yasashii Jikan. There were tons of times where his ad-libs (?) had the audience in stitches. The "Do your dysentery face!" scene with Mayama! Kase Ryou is the only example I can think of at the moment. *ded* o shi this wasn't supposed to be a comedy, was it? Before I put my foot in my mouth further, I must say that this year will be the first time since Spirited Away in '02 (my first time ever) that I will sit through the Oscars. Go go Nino. I guess this means I have to catch up on Haikei now.
Only five more days until Friday!
IT'S HERE. The unthinkable has happened: Letters from Iwo Jima is playing in St. Louis. <33333 That's the same snob theater that told me a few weeks ago that it wouldn't be playing here. It started yesterday and will be here for the whole week. Nino on the big screen yayayayayay. I'm going Saturday or Sunday and will probably wear my Arashic shirt. *shot*
edit: I fail. Happy Birthday Sakurai Shou. It's still the 25th in my timezone, so it doesn't count as belated, right? Let the Legend of Chesuto live on forever! =o =o
